2021 BRIGADA PAGBASA KICKS OFF IN CEDLES

Col E. De Leon Elementary School officially launched the 2021 Brigada Pagbasa virtually on November 3, 2021. Brigada Pagbasa is one of the components of Brigada Eskwela (BE) program. It seeks to promote literacy and numeracy through the help of DepEd partners and volunteers.  It is a national reading program that envisions bringing together all members of the community to help learners to read and become functionally literate. Specifically, to enhance learner’s reading skills and comprehension. SDO Paraňaque’s theme for this reading activity is “Bawat Batang Parañaqueno Masayang Bumabasa”.

To realize the objectives of Brigada Pagbasa, the spirit of Bayanihan which Filipinos are famous for comes into play. Teachers began by scouting possible volunteers who will act as reading tutors from the community. As of last count, there are 70 individuals who pledge their time and expertise to help struggling learners to read, understand and eventually find joy in reading. The school is encouraging everyone to contribute to this meaningful endeavor by sparing a portion of their time to be a tutor or donate anything that can be of help in pursuing this activity like donate a load or a book.

The Brigada Pagbasa team headed by school head Dr. Susan J. Corro, together with Mr. Gilbert M. Tumpang, Daisy C. Nacario, Brigada Pagbasa and BE Coordinator respectively, teaching, and non-teaching personnel, volunteer tutors, stakeholders, and Moonwalk Barangay Captain, Hon. Roberto C. Alano, is positive that every child enrolled in CEDLES will confidently read and this, will surely lead to basic quality education.

The FB Live airing of the Brigada Pagbasa Orientation motivated viewers to help in this undertaking in any means that they can. After the orientation, they now understand that reading is the foundation in which learning will occur because through reading children will understand their lesson. Furthermore, they will learn about people, places, events, and many things outside their own experience.

As the saying goes, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you will go.”
