Childrens Month Celebration promotes Filipino Values

Col. E. De Leon Elementary School celebrated two important events in November: Filipino Values Month and National Childrens Month.  November is designated as “Filipino Values Month” in accordance with Proclamation No. 479, which was issued on October 7, 1994. The celebration aims to raise national awareness and moral awakening regarding human values that are distinct, authentic, and uniquely Filipino. Consequently, on November 20, 2023, our school organized events that complemented this year’s theme, which is “MATATAG na Edukasyon, MATATAG na Karakter Moral: Kaakibat ng Magandang Kinabukasan ng Bawat Pilipino.”

On the other hand, National Children’s Month (NCM)which is also celebrated every November, was institutionalized by Republic Act 10661to commemorate the adoption of the United Nation’s Convention on the Rights of the Child on November 20, 1989.

These two events were combined at CEDLES by having a parade, program, and different activities. The parade was made festive with bright costumes worn by pupils in the primary grade level. The slogans and posters were created by the intermediate grade level which showcased students’ creativity and talent. The slogans not just demonstrated how their personal and societal values align with their values as students, but also reveal their inventivess. Moreover, a select group of students performed songs and dances and poetry reading. Everyone, especially the students, thoroughly enjoyed the program and gave excellent participation.
